[ARCHIVED] Chief Information Officer Selected

After a Nationwide search, which produced 59 candidates, the City of Modesto has selected Charles Haase to be the next Chief Information Officer (CIO). Mr. Haase currently serves as the Chief Information Officer for the County of Marin and has over 20 years of experience in information technology.

“Although we had a very competitive list of highly qualified candidates, Mr. Haase rose to the top.” said Interim City Manager Joe Lopez. “His knowledge and experience will be a tremendous addition to the Information Technology Department, City Senior Executive Team and the City of Modesto.”

As the CIO, Mr. Haase will be responsible for the overall management and planning of information technology services including technology acquisition and implementation, business systems analysis, and the development and fostering of a culture of innovation and citizen engagement through technology. The Information Technology Department provides centralized support and maintenance to all City departments as well as offering strategic direction and long-term technology planning on a citywide basis.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to join the City of Modesto and lead their IT Department,” said Mr. Haase. “I was drawn to Modesto because of the City's commitment to innovation and to improving services to the public.  I look forward to joining the team and to help advance these objectives.”

Mr. Haase will work closely with the City Manager’s Office and the Executive Team to ensure a forward thinking, open and strategic approach to technology in support of all municipal business units. Additionally, he will be an advocate for best practices in technology and assist departments in achieving their mission by using appropriate technology. Mr. Haase will start with the City of Modesto on January 9, 2018.
