Board of Zoning Adjustment
Purpose
The responsibility of the Board of Zoning Adjustment is to uphold the integrity of zoning regulations and the Modesto General Plan. The board makes decisions on applications for conditional use permits, variances and site plans for office development. The Board of Zoning Adjustment also hears appeals concerning decisions made by the Community and Economic Development Department staff.

Membership Requirements
Board Members must be a registered voter in the City of Modesto. Please note that application for this committee requires a financial disclosure statement (Statement of Economic Interests - Form 700) under State law.
The Board of Zoning Adjustment shall consist 6 members appointed by City Council to maximum of two four-year terms, and one member appointed from the Planning Commission on a yearly basis.
