Operations Division
The Modesto Police Department Operations Division provides the core police services to our community. Uniformed officers responding to 911 calls for help, patrolling our streets 24 hours a day/7 days a week and developing strong partnerships with the community we serve is how the Operations Division works to accomplish its top goal of reducing crime and the fear of crime in Modesto.
The Operations Division is the largest of the three divisions within the police department and is staffed by approximately 160 sworn and professional personnel. The Division’s primary function is to serve the community through innovative crime reduction strategies. The Division has been able to blend technology and community engagement in its efforts to enhance the quality of life for those that live, work and visit the city.
The Division has established an Area Command model, in which the city is divided into 4 quadrants, and every officer and sergeant is assigned to an area command. Each Area Command is overseen by a police lieutenant. This policing model enhances accountability and ownership among our personnel.
