[ARCHIVED] City Officials Continue to Review Financial Contract Discrepancy with Hot Patch Contracting Firm

Modesto City administrators continue to review and analyze what led to city staff overspending millions of dollars on Hot Patching work completed by a local contractor. Although the review is ongoing, preliminary assessment has prompted additional scrutiny, analysis and investigation into what led to this.

The City of Modesto has launched an internal review and personnel investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the overage spending. The city will utilize an outside firm to assist in this internal review.

Interim City Manager Joe Lopez said, “As we continue to analyze what happened with this contract, more details have come to light. We want to make sure we do a thorough and complete analysis before reporting any findings.  We are going to get to the bottom of this, and take this as an opportunity to continue our work to improve the city’s purchasing and contract management systems."
