MODESTO, Calif., March 29, 2017 – Dryden Park announced today that the municipally-owned golf course will open for public play on Monday, April 10, being closed since Feb. 16, due to significant rains and floods that devastated most of Northern California over the past month.
While no permanent damage was caused, Dryden Park took on a significant amount of water alongside the high-running Tuolumne River that borders the golf course to the east. Upon re-opening, Dryden Park will also boast a full fleet of 40 golf carts, with NEW batteries.
“We are extremely proud of superintendent, Scott Dickson and his team from BrightView Golf Maintenance for their diligence to re-open the golf course after facing such dire conditions,” said general manager Kelly Smith. “This was a true team effort and we are looking forward to not only welcoming back our loyal golfers, but new golfers from in and around our area that have yet to experience the “Best in Class” service, and great value Dryden Park has to offer.”
Dryden Park golf course was built in 1961 by William F. Bell – who also designed both the North and South Courses at Torrey Pines for the city of La Jolla, Calif. The course includes mature trees, wide fairways and strategic bunkering. The Learning Center at Dryden Park offers a driving range and two putting greens – making Dryden Park an ideal location for youth or beginner golfer. Widely considered one of the best value courses in Central California, Dryden Park is an 18-hole golf course that winds along the Tuolumne River, Dryden Park encompasses mature pines and oaks, and wide, emerald fairways, both beginners and expert golfers who prefer a more traditional round of golf will appreciate Dryden Park’s medium-sized greens guarded by small bunkers.
