[ARCHIVED] Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for SR 99 Pelandale Avenue Interchange

The City of Modesto will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the SR99/Pelandale Avenue Interchange Reconstruction Project on Wednesday, October 26 starting at 10am, at the corner of Pelandale Avenue and Sisk Road in north Modesto.

We celebrate the early completion of the SR99/Pelandale Avenue Interchange Reconstruction Project and the impact it will have on transportation in and out of our City.

This two and one half year construction project included reconstruction of the Pelandale Avenue overcrossing, the SR 99 on and off-ramps, a City of Modesto Welcome Sign and is the largest transportation capital improvement project ever in our city’s recent history. Total project cost is $54.1 million with a construction cost $41.6 million.

This was funded primarily by City of Modesto Capital Facility Fees, State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) funds, Federal Funds and State Route 99 Proposition 1B Bond Fund Savings. The City, in collaboration with Caltrans and StanCOG, worked together to secure funding and make this a successful project.

“We know this will greatly improve safety and traffic congestion on highway 99 and in North Modesto,” said Bill Sandhu, Public Works Director for the City of Modesto. “Our goal was to maintain community access throughout construction and complete the project by early 2017. We have accomplished both goals and are very pleased with the result of our efforts.”
