Modesto's Utilities Department Engineering Services Division operates as a well-coordinated team of professionals who manage planning and engineering design of the city's water related infrastructure. Our dedicated staff ensures a smooth process, attending to all aspects with precision and efficiency to deliver it's projects.

The planning division within the Utilities Department, the Water Resources Engineering (WRE) section conducts engineering and planning efforts for the City's water resources. With a focus on both short and long - term enhancements, the WRE team implements solutions for water related utility systems while also producing regulatory reports and conducting utilities studies , including, but not limited to master plans, engineer's reports, management and sustainability plans, various feasibility studies, and state-mandated reports. Each project undergoes meticulous evaluation of factors like priority, cost, and future requirements, ensuring the establishment of a dependable and efficient system that caters to the needs of residents. Additionally, WRE actively seeks out utility grant funding opportunities to support these initiatives. WRE's approach encompasses hydraulic modeling oversight and collaboration with regional partners.
