MODESTO, CA – Modesto Police detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at an intersection in south Modesto. Investigators have no one in custody and are asking for the public's help in identifying the shooter.
On Saturday, February 2nd, at about 8 P.M., Modesto Police officers were called to a report of a shooting, near the intersection of W. Hatch Road and Dallas Street. When officers arrived they located the victim, a male adult in his early 50's, sitting in the driver's seat of a vehicle, which was stopped for a red light at the intersection. Emergency personnel discovered the driver was deceased and had suffered at least one gunshot wound.
Investigators have limited leads and are asking for the public's help in aiding in the investigation. Detectives want to speak to anyone who may have been at the intersection of W. Hatch Road and Dallas Street prior to, or around the time of, the shooting.
The victim's identify will not be released, until his identity is confirmed by the Stanislaus County Coroner's office and next of kin is notified. An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for Monday.
