John Mundt

Grade: 12th
School: Central Catholic

Two words sum up John’s reputation: humble and kind. John is an honor student whose athletic talent and academic excellence are well established, but one would never know it by talking with him. John always thinks of others first and has a genuine interest in making a difference by helping those less fortunate.

A focused and driven worker, he has volunteered every year for the Christmas Basket and Adopt-a-Family Programs at CCHS. John also enthusiastically works with youth at athletic clinics and spiritual retreats, holding a special place in his heart for disabled children and always going out of his way to make them feel great. His uplifting and generous spirit led him to organize a fundraiser to buy new school shoes for children in need. He was successful in raising over $6,000 for his cause. His resourcefulness and desire to help as many kids as possible extended the reach of the donations received, as he was able to make arrangements with a local shoe store, which generously extended discounts for the event. On a memorable and heartwarming morning, he was able to help outfit around 100 children with any pair of shoes they wanted.

Even in this great accomplishment, John’s thoughts remained with the children who “tugged at his heart” when they arrived that day. John Mundt is a truly quiet leader whose impact on the world around him is loud and clear.
