Modesto, CA –On Monday, September 24, 2018 at approximately 7:25am, patrol units responded to a home on Poinsettia Drive for the report of a child abduction.  The investigation revealed, 41- year old John Cosso and five others, forced their way into the home and forcibly took six-year old Jayce Cosso from his biological mother as she attempted to protect him.

Modesto Police worked tirelessly through the night following up on numerous tips from the public and eventually located John Cosso, his seventeen-year old son, and six-year old Jayce, at La Quinta Inn and Suites in Dublin California.  At 8am this morning, Deputies from Alameda County Sheriff’s Department took John Cosso and his seventeen-year old son into custody without incident.  Six-year old Jayce Cosso was unharmed and will be reunited with his mother.  This investigation is still underway and interviews are being conducted to identify additional suspects in this case.  The issued Amber Alert has been cancelled.
